REMEMBERING JAMES D. GIBBONS (1943-2024)
James "Jimmy" D. Gibbons, a cherished member of the Northwood Acting Studio family and affectionately known to us as "Handsome Yimmy," passed away in December of 2024.
Jimmy joined our studio at the age of 79 and quickly became a favorite in class. His warmth, humor, and dedication to the craft made an immediate and lasting impression on everyone. Attending class three times a week with rare exception, Jimmy’s passion for learning and his belief that it’s never too late to chase your dreams made him an integral part of our community.
Jimmy’s kindness and generosity were unmatched. He often purchased extra memberships to ensure that financial challenges never prevented anyone from attending class. Even when he could no longer attend himself, "Handsome Yimmy" continued to support his fellow actors, leaving behind a legacy of selflessness and encouragement.
Through the Jimmy G Scholarship Fund, we honor his memory by providing aspiring actors opportunities to grow and thrive. Jimmy’s passion for the arts and the joy he brought to our studio will forever inspire all who had the privilege to know him.
You may also honor Jimmy’s memory and show support for the loved ones in our studio community affected by cancer by purchasing a commemorative t-shirt. The design features a ribbon for Jimmy as well as ribbons representing friends and family of our staff and students who have battled or are currently battling cancer.
All proceeds from the t-shirts go directly to the Jimmy G Scholarship Fund, helping aspiring actors pursue their dreams.
